As a 47-year-old woman with no background in motorbikes or adventure sports, Camp VC has become my sanctuary—where freedom, belonging, and inspiration reign supreme.

Located in the glorious Llangollen countryside of North Wales, Camp VC epitomises diversity and inclusivity. This action, adventure and moto festival welcomes women, trans women, and non-binary individuals, creating a vibrant mix of festival-goers. It’s a melting pot of backgrounds, experiences, of all ages, and walks of life - that is what makes Camp VC so epic. Everyone, regardless of their past, finds common ground in their love for adventure and their desire to break free from societal norms.

Each person at Camp VC brings their unique story, creating a dynamic tapestry of experiences and wisdom. This inclusive atmosphere ensures everyone feels valued and welcomed, whether they’re novices or veterans. It’s a celebration of individuality and collective spirit, where differences are embraced.

What hits you first at Camp VC is the overwhelming sense of freedom. For someone like me, without an adventure sport background, the festival is a chance to step out of my comfort zone and embrace new things. You can choose to learn to ride a motorbike at the Beginners Dirt Riding School, try your hand at skateboarding in the Skate Workshops, or if you’d rather not get active, you can simply soak up the incredible vibes, get creative in the Poetry Writing Sessions, learn something handy in the DIY Power Tool Workshop, or get yourself a new tattoo, which I have made a habit of each year!

This freedom isn’t just physical; it’s emotional and mental too. It’s about breaking free from everyday constraints and societal expectations. It’s realising that age is just a number and that the pursuit of passion and joy knows no boundaries. This newfound confidence extends beyond the festival, influencing how we approach challenges in our daily lives long after the festival is over.

The people at Camp VC are nothing short of badass. They are trailblazers, constantly going against the grain and challenging societal norms. Seeing them in action is a powerful reminder that we can achieve anything we want. It reignites a spark within me, motivating me to pursue my own aspirations in all areas of my life. The shared experiences and encouragement create a supportive environment where everyone feels empowered to chase their dreams, no matter how big or small.

The festival’s workshops and talks are particularly inspiring. Hearing from women who have broken barriers and achieved remarkable feats in their respective fields is super motivating. Their stories of perseverance and success create a beacon of hope and inspiration for all of us to pursue our passions unapologetically.
