Adventurous travel vloggers, the Rigden Family, joined us for a short break in Wales, exploring the family-friendly attractions and activities to suit a range of ages.
On Day 1, travelling over, they explored the beautiful Elan Valley's walks and dams. They spent their first night in a family room at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells.
On their way to Aberystwyth the next day, the family stopped off at Bwlch Nant yr Arian, near Ponterwyd. They discovered plenty to see and do along the family-friendly trails, including spotting the magnificent red kites soaring overhead.
They stayed a family room at the Gwesty'r Marine Hotel & Spa for the next couple of nights. The hotel is right on Aberystwyth's wide promenade, with fabulous west-facing views over the coast. It's also got free parking and easy access to the rest of the town.
The whole family found something fun to do in Aberystwyth. It's a traditional seaside resort, with a pier, amusement arcade, a romantic ruined castle to explore, and many family-friendly places to eat. One of the highlights of the stay was a trip on the heritage Vale of Rheidol Railway to Devil's Bridge. Sarah Bunton's Chocolate Shop was a hit with everyone. They saw the Devil's Bridge Falls and had a bite to eat in the Two Hoots Tea Room before getting the train back to Aberystwyth.
Heading back on the final day, the Rigdens finished their holiday with a stop off at the impressive Dan yr Ogof National Showcaves of Wales. The kids loved the dinosaur park and exploring the caves, and it wore them out so they slept most of the way home.
