Riverside Cottage is a beautifully renovated property in a quiet lane in Middleton, Rhossili on the Gower Peninsula. It is within walking distance of a number of the special Gower beaches and others are easily reached. Mewslade and Fall Bay are firm favourites for the more adventurous, while the vast expanse of Rhossili Bay is well known. Slightly further afield but easily reached, are the family friendly beaches of Port Eynon, Horton, Slade and Oxwich. There is the Nature Reserve of north Gower and the beaches of Whitford and Broughton. There are stream side wooded walks at Bishopston which lead down to the pebble and sand beach at Pwll Du. There are the inland valley walks of Ilston and Parc le Breos with its burial chamber and caves. Up the hill from the cottage is Rhossili Down - walk, run or cycle or hang glide over this wild moorland all the way to Llangenith or just to the trig point for wonderful far reaching views and sunsets. There are so many aspects of this AONB to mention but Gower is certainly blessed with beautiful beaches and many inland and coastal paths of great variety.
The cottage is also within easy walking distance of the centre of Rhossili where you will find The Worms Head Hotel, the Bay Bistro, the Lookout Cafe, the National Trust shop and information centre and The Worm itself - another adventure can be had exploring this fascinating landmark across the causeway or from the Gower
Adventures boat.
We have been busy renovating through the winter into early 2020 and the cottage now has a stylish but homely feel.
It sleeps 4 comfortably and we can provide a cot and high chair if needed. There is plenty of storage in the old byre for bikes, boards, boots or wet coats.
The front door leads into the open plan fitted kitchen, dining and sitting space. All the downstairs floors are engineered wood boards with underfloor heating. The kitchen has a Bosch hob and oven with grill, Bosch dishwasher, large integrated fridge/freezer and all the other usual kitchen facilities.
There is a table with seating for four.
The large corner sofa and extra fireside chair are in a cosy area around the wood burner with a TV, Freesat, DVD player and Bose mini speaker. There are a selection of books, games, DVD’s, maps, walk suggestions, etc.
Steps lead up to the hallway with coat hooks and a shoe/boot shelf.
The hallway leads to the first bedroom which has either a super king size bed or two singles depending on your needs. There is also a wardrobe, chest of drawers, lamps and hairdryer.
The hall also leads to the downstairs bathroom, which has a lovely new corner shower, WC, handbasin, tall towel radiator and also the washing machine for the cottage.
More stairs lead up to the light, spacious second bedroom with its vaulted ceiling. This bedroom has fitted wool carpet, a comfortable king size bed, easy chair and hanging and shelf space. The en-suite has a large walk-in shower, ?WC, hand basin and tall towel radiator.
Bed linen and towels are supplied (not beach towels) and a supply of logs for the wood stove. There is an iron and ironing board; a cordless vacuum cleaner for quick tidy-ups.
Two cars can be parked outside the cottage though some prefer to park their car in the lane, keeping the extra space inside the gates.
There is a pretty garden space with a small lawn, cobbled path, flower beds and two tables with chairs and a sun shade. The BBQ can be found in the outside bread oven building and in the old byre there is plenty of room for bikes, etc. There is an outside retractable washing line and a line in the byre for wet coats etc. The outside area is fully fenced.
Riverside Cottage is fully self-contained but attached at one end to the old farm house where we live. We are happy to help with any queries you may have during your stay but will leave you in complete peace to enjoy this beautiful area of Wales.
First Review
Thank you so much. The cottage is just beautiful, we all really want to return. This was a much-needed break in a beautiful area.
The cottage is very well equipped, everything you could possibly need. The location is ideal, no need to use the car if you don't want to. Would highly recommend a stay at this stunning property.
