About Dyffryn Mymbyr Cottage, National Trust
Located in Betws-y-coed, Conwy, make a break to this mountainside cottage which sleeps four, for a week of rural escapism. Unlike other Eryri (Snowdonia) farm cottages, Dyffryn Mymbyr was the setting for the windswept tales of Thomas Firbank’s iconic biography, ‘I bought a Mountain’. It was here, on this rugged upland farm, he fled the norm for life as a farmer in this beautiful corner of Wales. This National Trust Holidays cottage has now been restored, but retains its rustic character with an inglenook fireplace, exposed beams and slate floors. The cottage has an electric car charging point.
Plastic Free Yr Wyddfa: Plastic Free Yr Wyddfa is an initiative organised by Eryri National Park to protect the mountain’s sustainable future. This cottage, and all National Trust holiday cottages in the national park have been awarded silver status in this plastic-free business programme, and we are making changes to work towards gold status.
