Shoals Hook House is a spacious 18C property and we let rooms within our house, giving guests their own privacy. We are set in beautiful landscaped grounds at the end of a private country lane, surrounded by farmland. Just a 10 minute walk from the hamlet of Prendergast you will find a traditional award winning butchers, a good Chinese takeaway, fish and chip shop, pub that does great pub food, a florist, two hairdressers, launderette and a reliable garage. There is a single railway track running past the house built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel where short passenger trains pass with little disturbance to most of our guests as well as the odd goods train connecting the Milford Haven oil refinery.
A further 10 minute walk will take you into the market town of Haverfordwest, where there are several good restaurants/cafés, pubs, and an old charm 1913 cinema, as well as supermarkets, and a retail park.
Haverfordwest is in the centre and county town of Pembrokeshire, making it an ideal base to explore beautiful Pembrokeshire. It has great transport links including a main railway station and bus depot for National Express and local buses.
In the summer months, ‘The Puffin Hopper’ provides easy access to the beautiful 186 mile Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the only coastal National Park in the UK.
There are numerous cycle routes, as well as kayaking and windsurfing at the nearby beaches. Visitors can instantly relax and unwind after a day exploring this beautiful part of West Wales at this charming, characterful and large holiday accommodation, sitting by the cosy inglenook fireplace on chilly nights, or BBQing in the private garden listening to the many woodland birds.
