About Skomer Island Accommodation
Staying overnight on Skomer enables you to experience not just the full range of wildlife, but also the tranquillity and isolation that Skomer Island offers.
You will always find an isolated spot to sit and enjoy your surroundings in solitude. Even places that are popular during the day, such as the Wick, can be completely deserted, allowing you a private view of this spectacular location at sunset.
There are few places that offer an escape from the modern world, but Skomer is certainly one of them.
You also have the opportunity to meet the staff and researchers who live and work on the island. 'Bird log' offers the chance to discuss sightings and find out more about what to see and where to see it from the experts. You can also contribute to the island records by noting your observations.
The island accommodation has been developed with the surroundings and the environment in mind. The buildings were the winner of the RICS 2008 Sustainability Award.
The facilities provide simple, comfortable accommodation with electricity and hot water generated from the sun.
Stays are on a self catering basis. There are private bedrooms and a shared, equipped, kitchen. Please note there is no microwave. There is also a dining room.
A boat fare of £10 per person is payable on the boat. There are no boats on Mondays (except Bank Holidays) so if you arrive on Sunday, you will not be able to leave until Tuesday at the earliest. In May June and July, you can only stay for a maximum of three nights. Further details and full terms and conditions will be sent to you if you make a booking and are available on request.
